VDF provides administrative, logistical support to VNG during winter weather response

RICHMOND, Va. –Members of the Virginia Defense Force on state active duty provided administrative, logistical and operations center augmentation support to Virginia National Guard Soldiers and Airmen from Jan. 23 to 28, 2026, at VNG facilities across the Commonwealth to support the response to significant winter weather.Over the six days, 20 VDF personnel were on duty and provided support at 18 different locations across Virginia. Logistics distribution teams drove more than 4,500 miles and transported cargo valued at approximately $60,000. 

It was the largest VDF state active duty mission since the COVID-19 pandemic response. 

The following week, another 11 VDF personnel were activated for a follow on winter storm.
